Derek M. Wilson

Principal, President

Derek Wilson is a Principal of Suntex Ventures and President of Suntex Advisors.

Mr. Wilson has extensive entrepreneurial and managerial experience and has helped to successfully build several businesses. Mr. Wilson is Chairman and Co-Founder of NeoSpire, Inc., one of the first profitable businesses within the Managed Web Hosting Industry and it continues to be one of the leaders.

Prior to Suntex, Mr. Wilson was a partner in a private partnership which teamed with One Equity Partners and JP Morgan to purchase Progress Rail, a North American rail car company, and then sold it nine months later to Caterpillar for $1 billion, giving investors a five times return. Prior to Progress Rail, that same partnership worked with Ashmore, an English private equity firm, to explore the acquisition of a $1.5 billion Asian Pacific oil refinery company.

Mr. Wilson was an Analyst and Partner in Wings Holdings LP, the leading partnership of the $4 billion Leveraged Buyout of Northwest Airlines. Prior to Wing Holdings, Mr. Wilson worked in the Strategic Planning Group at The Walt Disney Company specializing in merger and acquisition analysis in the media and entertainment industry. Mr. Wilson holds an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and an AB in Economics from Duke University. Mr. Wilson served as Chairman of the North Texas Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). He is on the Board of the Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Fuqua School of Business and is on the Board of the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Museum of Art and served on the Executive Committee of The Duke University Alumni Association. Mr. Wilson resides in Dallas, TX with his wife and two children.
